Regular servicing undertaken by Horsepower Motor Centre is the ideal way to maintain both the smooth running and the resale value of your vehicle.
Regular servicing is the way to ensure that your vehicle maintains an optimum level of performance during its ownership cycle. Having a full service history can also enhance the potential resale value of a car.
Depending on your vehicle, there is a choice between ‘time and distance servicing’ and ‘variable servicing’. (To find out which type is relevant to your vehicle please contact us). For vehicles following a ‘time and distance servicing’ schedule, services will be required at fixed intervals typically between 1 & 2 years or 10,000 & 20,000 miles, whichever sooner. Where variable servicing is chosen, sensors located within your engine and other working components of the vehicle will inform you when servicing is required.
For example, on a 2004 1.6 petrol manual Mini Cooper Cabriolet the Service Interval indicator tells you when an Oil Service, an Inspection – always Inspection I or II alternatively – or a brake fluid change is necessary. It knows when to tell you which item is due because the sensors mentioned above record the actual conditions in which the vehicle has been operated and an on-board computer takes this into consideration. The technology it uses also takes your individual driving style and your vehicle’s operating conditions into account. This is to account for the fact that short-distance driving, with many cold starts and the car driven away at high engine speeds, imposes a different type of load on your vehicle when compared to long-distance driving, when the engine is operating at a consistent temperature for lengthy periods – which is why high-mileage vehicles with full service-history can in certain situations represent better value for money than their low-mileage counterparts.
